Lesson 13: Global Scale

Objective

  1. Indentify the location of jet streams.
  2. Identify Troughs and Ridges
  3. Identify ITCZ
  4. Transfers knowledge and principles of radiative transfer to satellite imagery

Prerequisite

  1. Knowledge of basic global circulation patterns (the three cell model)
  2. Knowledge of basic jet streams (subtropical jet and polar front jet)
  3. Ability to interpret visible, infrared and water vapor imagery from geostationary satellite.
